Samson has boo boos

Our poor little Samson was attacked by another dog last weekend while my parents were dog sitting. My poor parents, the whole thing happened at their feet and they never saw the other dog coming. Everyone (including Samson) is very, very lucky. After the initial shock set in (and it did take a little while for me) we had to figure out how to tell Riley. Not the gruesome details, but just how to be honest with her so that neither Riley nor Samson would get hurt. We put the emphasis on the fact that he has boo boos that need to heal and that we can't touch him or make loud noises or sudden movements for a while around him. So far, so good.
We went to pick him up at my parent's house the day after it happened and my little heart broke. He looked like Frankenstein (on his back). There is a big rectangle shaved out in between his shoulder blades with tons and tons of stitches. And a few more on his right ribs. Poor little guy. He is still pretty. We are lucky it wasn't worse.
Riley wanted to give him band-aids (cause she is obsessed with them) so we made him a "hope your boo boos heal soon" card and put her band-aids on the card instead. It hangs above his bed so he will know they care.
Samson is back to his old self. Although we aren't sure how he will do on a walk when another dog walks by - I will let Jarrett test that one out with him. But he is healing and happy and home. All we care about.

School for two!

Oh boy, how we love CLC (Prestonwood's Mother's Day Out). It makes me not sad at all that summer is over. I so miss the girls during the day, but am grateful for the 10 hours a week of a little quiet and capacity to run errands, go to appointments and meet for discipleship, a lunch or just read...
Here are our pictures of the Stephens girls's first day.

I haven't even been to school yet, but I am so excited!

One more hug before we leave!
